Plans set for 4th Student Appreciation Day practice
Fastest Buckeye contest will include Ezekiel Elliott and alums
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State Buckeyes will hold their fourth annual Student Appreciation Day practice at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center Saturday, April 11 starting at 11 a.m. Busses will transport students from three main campus locations – the Ohio Union, Archer House and the RPAC – beginning at 9:45 a.m. and will continue running between those locations and the Woody until 2:30 p.m.
Doors at the Woody will open at 10 a.m. for Ohio State students with a valid BuckID. Additional parking will be in the Gray Lots.
Efforts are ongoing to ensure this year’s Student Appreciation Day is as fun and entertaining as the previous days, which have drawn several thousand students or more into the Woody. Students will be able to interact with their football-playing peers and coaches after practice and during practice there will be food trucks on site, a dee-jay, Brutus Buckeye and the cheerleaders.
Two photo stations will be set up: one where students can have their picture taken with the College Football Playoff national championship trophy and one that will have a band member’s sousaphone for an iconic “dotting-of-the-I” photo.
There also will be three competitions for any student attending the practice to take part in: a push-up contest; a leg-lifts contests; and a two-person wheel burrow racing.
Fastest Buckeye competition
These events are in addition to the 2nd “fastest Buckeye competition.” A preliminary round of sprints will take place Monday, April 6, at 5 p.m. at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. The semifinals will be held during the Student Appreciation Day practice and those advancing to the finals will compete April 18 during the spring game against current Buckeyes, including Ezekiel Elliott, and a selection of Buckeye alums.
