Nice While It Lasted

The Curtis McElhinney era in Columbus got off to a pretty good start. He was part of a shutout streak that lasted 162:01. It’s not a franchise record. Steve Mason went 199:19 without giving up a goal. It’s in the same area code, however.

What is a record is that McElhinney, along with Sergei Bobrovsky, combined for the first ever tandem-effort shutout in Blue Jackets team history when the pair backstopped the club during their 1-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

(Thanks to the Elias Sport Bureau and the Aaron Portzline Department of Statistics.)
