Here’s how Edmonton president of hockey operations, Kevin Lowe, explained the hire* of former CBJ general manager Scott Howson today.
“Scott brings a wealth of management experiences to our group and has illustrated the ability to build a team that competes. Many hockey people from around the NHL will tell you that Scott deserves plenty of the credit for the new Columbus Blue Jackets, who are now a threat for this year’s Stanley Cup playoffs.”
Howson was named Edmonton’s senior vice president of hockey operations. His addition to the club was announced at the same time as new Oiler’s GM Craig MacTavish.
*He had been doing some scouting for the team since his departure from the Jackets.
