The New York Times today published a feature on Blue Jackets president of hockey operations John Davidson, who is “considered to have one of the sharpest minds in the game.”
With that as his reputation, Davidson is naturally going to serve as the face of the organization, and newly hired GM Jarmo Kekalainen is fine with that.
“He knows everyone in the league and can be the face of the franchise,” Kekalainen said. “I’ll be comfortable to be in the background.”
Team president Mike Priest agrees that serving as the team’s ambassador will be an important part of Davidson’s role. Priest also stressed that the Jackets are committed to both Davidson and the city for the long term.
“We’re not in jeopardy of going anywhere.”
It’s a nice piece, and well worth reading…especially if you need a distraction from what’s going on in Nashville at the moment.
