Ohio State running backs coach Stan Drayton has interviewed for the Temple job according to multiple reports, and it’s not the only time this offseason a Buckeye assistant has seen their name come up in relation to another team’s coaching search.
“The one negative thing about success and hiring good coaches is that they’re hot items,” said OSU head man Urban Meyer in his end-of-the-year press conference. “I had a turnstile down at Florida of guys leaving.”
Defensive coordinator Everett Withers would have left had he won the job at Southern Mississippi. He came close enough to be called a front-runner at one point.
Ed Warinner was a nominee for the Broyles Award for the top assistant in college football. He was briefly named in conjunction with the Purdue job. Kerry Coombs was mentioned in numerous reports as a possible candidate at Cincinnati, before the Bearcats hired Tommy Tuberville. Tom Herman is included on the list of virtually every school in search of an up-and-coming, offensive-minded leader.
As of now, the staff that led the Buckeyes to a 12-0 record last year is still intact. Whether that holds remains to be seen.
