Indians Injury Update

The Indians sent out a press release providing injury updates from head trainer Lonnie Soloff:

  • RHP Josh Tomlin – Will have season-ending ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction surgery (commonly referred to as “Tommy John” surgery) on his right elbow today in Anaheim, California; the procedure will be performed by Dr. Lewis Yocum and recovery time is expected to be 12-18 months
  • OF Grady Sizemore (60-day DL, lower back surgery) – has discontinued baseball-related activities due to complications with his surgically-repaired right knee
  • LHP Rafael Perez (60-day DL, strained left lat) – suffered a sprained right ankle in his most recent rehab outing, which is expected to delay his return
  • INF Lonnie Chisenhall (60-day DL, fractured right ulna) – has progressed to the point of resuming baseball-related activities
  • RHP Carlos Carrasco (60-day DL, right elbow UCL reconstruction surgery) – is scheduled to begin pitching in games for the Arizona League Indians at some point this week
