Spurrier Gets A Kick Out Of Urban’s Idea

Urban Meyer may have helped put a kid on scholarship today.

For the story, we head to South Carolina, where fifth year senior kicker Adam Yates was lined up to make a 42-yard field goal.

Darryl Slater of the Post and Courier takes it from there:

“The team made noise while Yates was kicking, seemingly to simulate a game environment, and crowded around him to congratulate him when he made the kick. What was up with that?

“If Adam Yates made it, he was going on scholarship,” Spurrier said… “You like how I got the whole team out there?

“I hate to admit this, but I got that from Urban Meyer at Ohio State last year in the indoor facility. He let all the students come down there and had the kicker go. That was as close as I could get. I’ll have to admit, I learned that one from Urban. Shoot, we’ll do that every year. I like that one.”

Here’s betting Adam Yates likes it even more.
