According to The Palm Beach Post, Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer advised Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra during the offseason.
It appears Meyer’s experience with the Gators made him the ideal man for Spoelstra to consult.
“…The ability to deal with a star athlete is much harder than most people think,” Meyer told The Post. “And at Florida, I had to deal with a bunch. Obviously, with the Heat, he’s dealing with a bunch. And the way [Spoelstra] does it, I think is brilliant.”
So there you have it. Meyer is to blame for the fact that LeBron won his championship ring.
Oh, and speaking of LeBron, the Post also includes this nugget:
“I offered him a scholarship when he was a sophomore in high school at St. Vincent St. Mary’s,” Meyer said. “I was at Notre Dame. He was a receiver, and I was a receiver’s coach.”
But, of course, the real news to come from Ethan J. Skolnick’s excellent reporting is this: Urban Meyer will occasionally drop the word haters in conversation.
Take that. Haters.
